Pete and Pedro – Your Hair’s New Best Friends

Hair

You might be damaging your hair without even realizing it, especially if you use hair products. But not all of them are made the same. Regardless of your situation, I mean, whether you use any sort of hair product or not, rest assured that Pete and Pedro products will do no harm to your hair. If anything, they will help you achieve a more stylish look. You’ll look more handsome more effortlessly. Who’d be against that?

Pete and Pedro products come with many benefits. For one, they’re very affordable; secondly, they’re very easy to apply; and last but not least, they’re extremely easy to remove. These are water-based products, and they wash out faster than what it takes a person to apply shampoo. It’s that easy.

I learned about Pete and Pedro a few years ago, but it wasn’t until very recently that I acquired my very first product. Now, I wonder what took me so long.

I decided to buy their paste, and it has done wonders for me. As a kid, I used to get regular hair gel. I experimented with ‘holds’ and ‘shines’ of all ranges and all kinds of consistencies, from really high shine to not too shiny, but still too much for my taste – I couldn’t find low or no-shine hair products back then, and I am not sure there were many available, or any at all. On the ‘hold’ side of the spectrum things weren’t much better; low hold products would actually leave my hair with no hold at all, while high hold ones, well…both a porcupine and a pangolin would’ve felt envious.

Because I have medium hair length, I decided to get the Pete and Pedro Paste, and I will be guiding you on which of these products are best suited for your kind of hair, too.

P.S. I’ll be talking about what makes each of these hair products stand out for what they are, but for an easier understanding, I’ve also arranged them in order of how light or strong their hold is.

The Cream

The lightest of them all. This will give you a very light hold, with a low shine level, and as the name suggests, it has a very creamy consistency. The cream is best suited for long hair and is great for combating frizz as well as keeping the locks smooth throughout the day. Besides, it contains essential oils that will nurture and moisturize your hair.

Upon opening the container, you’ll be greeted with a mild citrus scent and a small hint of coconut combined.

The Clay

A very versatile hair product. Pete and Pedro’s Clay provides a medium hold that can be used for all hair lengths; and that’s because, rather than length, it’s geared toward thinness. If you have thin hair, this is your best choice. It’ll add the volume you want with neither a shiny nor a greasy finish to it.

Don’t be afraid to use this if you have thick hair, though. You want to be the one in control of your hair, not the other way around. With this clay, freedom will be at your fingertips.

The Paste

This was my personal pick, and is great for anyone with medium to long hair. Neither your hands nor your hair will feel greasy once you’re done applying it. It’s shininess is very subtle, it has a medium hold and is stiff-free, which makes it fairly malleable and very easy to work with. However, there is a little trick to it. Before applying, you can keep rubbing it in your hands a few seconds more for a slight increase in stiffness.

If you feel the need to re-shape your mane throughout the day, that’s yet another reason why you would want to buy this paste. Also, the smell is not overpowering at all, which I think is a great feature in itself. It has a gentle citrus smell to it.

Your hair will also benefit a lot from using this product because it is infused with essential substances such as coconut and argan oils, which are great moisturizers.

The Pomade

Mostly for short to medium lengths, the pomade has a very high shine level and you can keep your hair under control with it. In your hands, it has a smooth, butter-like consistency, and is quite easy to spread around. While it’s not as strong as other Pete and Pedro hair products, it’s still good at keeping your hair together.

One of the things I like the most about the pomade is its smell. It has this peppermint aroma and gives your head a refreshing sensation. This pomade is also a great revitalizer, as it contains aloe extract.

The Power Pomade

Just like with the pomade, the power pomade targets short to medium hair lengths, except, this one offers a much stronger hold. However, keep in mind that if you have long hair and use the power pomade, you’ll end up finding yourself having to constantly re-accommodate your locks. Using this product will result in an even shinier look compared to that of its brother and maintains its ability to keep the hair under control.

Besides its ‘hold’ intensity, a second major difference between the pomade and the power pomade is that the latter has no scent at all. Nevertheless, it’s still contains aloe and peppermint extracts.

The Putty

With strong hold and low shine, this is easily one of the best-selling products Pete and Pedro has to offer. I’d recommend the putty especially if you have short to medium hair length. You can immediately tell this product will keep your hair in its place by its waxy consistency. You will be able to rock your hairstyle all day long, even after going to the gym.

As strong of a hold the putty has to offer, you’ll be happy to know that it is very flexible when it comes to malleability. But there is a catch to it. Out of all the products in this list, this is the one that requires the little extra effort to wash out of your hair. Usually, water is all it takes to completely remove these products, but given how waxy this one is, it’ll require the use of shampoo to wash it away in its totality.

The Tools – Classic or Retro

 or
Before I leave you to buy your newly-found, best hair product…

You may use your hands to style your hair, or you may use your favorite comb. Whichever the case is, I recommend you take a look at these if you want a more professional feel while you’re at it. Whether you go classic or retro is your decision, you will not be disappointed by either. They both are very durable, premium-feeling items, and an indispensable addition, in my opinion. I bought the classic version, and I feel very comfortable using it anytime I style my hair.

Options for Everyone

EveryoneAs we’ve learned in the past, we all come in different shapes and sizes. And so does our hair! There is nothing like that feeling of relief when you find out that there really exists something tailored to fit your exact needs. Based on what you’ve just learned, tell me: Which do you think would be the best option for you? I’m curious and it would be fun to know.

Alright finally something that may work for me. Considering my hair color and texture, most hold gels and pastes make my hair look greasy through out the day. Do you reccomend anything for beards

    • Andrew Post authorReply

I’m happy to hear, Donald. I know what you mean, I don’t like it when hair products leave a greasy look, plus they usually tend to be the hardest to remove from your hair, too.

I might write something on beard oils in the future, actually, but for now I can recommend oils that are 100% natural. Not only do they help your beard recover its natural oils, but they also smell nice. There are many great options available. The brand called Honest Amish, for example, has both scented and unscented, handcrafted beard oils. Another option would be Woodland Harmony, by Seven Potions. A more affordable one is ArtNaturals’ “Beard & Stache Oil”. You can find them on Amazon.
      I hope this helps!

Pete and Pedro seems like a really good brand. I will give it a try, if it works as advertised I will stick with it. I am gonna try out the power pomade and see how it goes.

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Great, Mitala, I am excited for you to give it a try.

      Have a nice Sunday!

    Thanks for this blog!
I personally don’t have enough hair for these products but I have been looking for something for my oldest son’s hair. His hair is always a mess and I have bought him some gel but it doesn’t work well. I am sure that the Putty will work perfectly

    • Andrew Post authorReply

It’s my pleasure, Jonathan. I struggled with all kinds of hair gels in the past, so I know exactly what you mean! You’ll immediately notice the difference. Remember, the key to applying the putty correctly (and any of these products, really) is to firmly rub it in your hands for a few seconds first. That is known as ’emulsifying’. In other words, you’re activating it to get the best results out of it.

      Have a great week!

Hey, Andrew!! First of all, I really like your website. Just what a gentleman needs. Pete and Pedro is a great name for a brand like this, an elegant one.

I really like the combs. So retro and just what I’m looking for. I really like your site. Keep on what you’re doing 🙂

    • Andrew Post authorReply

I really appreciate it Tyler, and I am glad you like it.
Yes, I love the combs, too, they’re awesome! I was so excited when I ordered mine and try to make the best use out of it. I got the classic one because the retro one hadn’t come out at that time. I am planning on getting the retro one soon!

Great information and recommendations. This brand is good, I have used the Clay before and it is really amazing.
I am in my 40’s and my hair loss is a problem, especially with the use of shampoo and fixing products.
Pete and Pedro is one of the brands with which my hair loss was less.
    I recommend it.
    Pablo

    • Andrew Post authorReply

I know, right? Pete & Pedro was a game changer for me. Its natural oils and essences might be the reason why your hair loss has lessened.
Thanks for stopping by, Pablo. Have a great week!

I always have a problem with my hair. In fact it wasn’t until years ago that I even started using hair spray. But since my hair is thinning, I can’t seem to get it to look right at all. You may have something here with your products that can help me.
But I’m not even sure where to start. You say that the paste is your choice? Is that the one I should try and what would it do for me? I’m always looking for something that will make my hair look full and shiny. Does this do that? I’m interested in knowing 🙂 Thanks!
    ~Rob

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Great questions, Rob. I would rather pick the clay in your case. It’s great for thinning hair, it’ll add more volume to it, however, it’s not as shiny. It’ll also depend on how strong or light of a hold you’re looking for. The pomade, in my opinion, will leave your hair the shiniest, and it also has a stronger hold than that of the clay or the paste.
Let me know what you end up choosing. It’ll be great to hear back from you!

  8. Matts Mom Reply

The pomade looks to be the perfect product my son has been looking for. Can you tell me what kind of scent it has to it? He is a bit picky when it comes to the smell of a product he used in his hair, LOL. Is the peppermint a strong smell, or more of a light smell? Thanks!

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Oh, great! The peppermint scent emanating from it is not overwhelming at all, on the contrary, it has a nice tone to it. If your son does not like that idea, in that case, I’d recommend the Power Pomade. It has all the same benefits the Pomade does, except, it has a stronger hold and no scent at all.
      I hope this helps!

  9. Hanna Reply

Awesome post! I actually have 2 teenage boys who has always been looking for a great product. One has a curly one and the other – straight. So, they both couldn`t have the same kind of products for their hair. Pete and Pedro products sound interesting, i am glad you shared this article. I will let them read your blog.
    All the best!

    • Andrew Post authorReply

That’s so nice to know, Hanna, I hope they find what they’ve been looking for here. Pete & Pedro products are amazing, and I’m sure they’ll be happy with the choice they each make. Thanks a lot, I wish you have a great week!

  10. Timotheus Reply

I never heard of this brand. Now I am interested. I have short hair with the top thinning. The pomade interests me. I especially like that it is a revitalizer and has aloe extract. Is this the right choice for someone like me, who has short and thinning hair?

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Pomade is really great for short hair, and if you like your hair looking shiny and want it to stay firm and in its place all day long, that would be the perfect choice for you. If you like peppermint you’ll like its scent, too.
The clay, on the other hand, adds more volume to your hair, which is why it’s great for thinning hair of all lengths. It has one of the lightest holds and low shine as well. If you specifically want to tackle your thin hair, this would the most appropriate one.
Aloe extract and the essential oils infused in their formula are an excellent feature, indeed. I love that about Pete & Pedro.

Let me know what you decide, Timotheus, and have a great week!

This is a great article! My husband has a lot of hair and he likes styling it in different ways. I think these products would work very well for him, I’ll get him to try Pete and Pedro 🙂

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Amazing, Lotta! He’ll love these products then. One of the things I like so much about them is their versatility, you can re-shape your hair if you need to throughout the day; and they come with the added benefits of keeping and making it healthier.

Hello Andrew, great review. I have a fade right now, but I have been trying to find some new styles for my hair. I will have to try out the pete and pedro products. Thanks for the info, I’m looking forward to reading more of your reviews!!

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Thank you so much, Ahmad. You won’t regret it, they are high quality products, easy to apply and wash out. I’ll be seeing you around! I wish you have a great week!

  14. Ivan Brozincevic Reply

Great website, Andrew! I like The Cream because it’s light and low shine, everything over that is too much for my taste. Most of the hair products are hard to wash out and these are water based which is cool, should be easy to wash. Never heard of Pete and Pedro products but they seem like a good buy. Thank you for the information.

    • Andrew Post authorReply

That’s right, Ivan, these are very easy to wash out, which is awesome. Pete & Pedro is a great recommendation, since they have a big selection for all kinds and lengths of hair.
      You are welcome!

I’m not a frequent user of these type of products, however the review you gave persuaded me that I should try this. Very well written. Keep up the good work!

    • Andrew Post authorReply

Thank you so much, Nick. The gap between when I stopped using regular hair gels – or any kind of hair product, actually – and when I started using Pete & Pedro is of at least 12 years. Now that I’ve discovered them I see a world of a difference. Whichever one you decide on getting I’m sure you’ll love.

  17. stefanie taylor Reply

Hi Andrew, absolutely love the look and the packaging of these products; simple yet stylish!

These seem like they would be much more natural and lower in chemicals considering they are water based. Too many chemicals dry out your hair and irritate your scalp so these look ideal for anybody with these kind of problems especially.

Do these have a masculine smell, or can us girlies use them too?

    • Andrew Post authorReply

You’re completely right, these products also help keep your hair healthy. Some of them contain coconut, argan, and other essential oils; while others have also been infused with aloe extract. The fact that they are water based is also beneficial to your hair.
I agree with you on the packaging. Simple yet stylish!
The smells are not going to make you feel uncomfortable at all. Some have a minty scent, others come with a citrus aroma, and they are all very nice and smooth. Let me which one you decide on getting!
